Here is a useful resource: Besley's Post Office Directory of Exeter & Suburbs, 1894-95.

There are 15 Melhuishs and 1 Melluish listed. It's well worth having a browse if you think you have ancestors in Exeter at the end of the 19th century. It's a fascinating bit of social history seeing the jobs our ancestors did and the streets they lived in.
