I am a proud Devonian who has had to come to grips with the fact that I contain a bit of Somerset blood too. Nevertheless my roots definitely fit into a very small part of the globe. I was looking for a way to present the information and started playing around with a heatmap. Then I got carried away and ended up creating a new website that anyone can use. You'll find it here:

So here I am, this is me, with a total of 119 ancestors, with some lines going back as much as 13 generations to a 10th great grandfather born in the 1500s.

To use it yourself, just start by registering. Then use Build My Pedigree/My Tree to insert all your ancestors, starting from yourself and working backwards. There are two views of the map: the heatmap and the pedigree map. If you want to share it with others (and why wouldn't you?) just click the Share My Pedigree button and give the link to all your family and friends.
